Survey Schedule

The first phase of the deep sea survey will occur in February 2018 and will be conducted as a series of one-day and three-day missions.

Additional phases of the survey are planned in 2018 during April, July and October to better quantify and assess resident and transient populations across multiple seasons.

Join the Expedition

Participation in this expedition is open to content experts and major supporters of the expedition. A major supporter is someone who contributes at least $15,000 to help underwrite a 3-day mission, or $10,000 to help subsidize a 1-day mission and become a mission specialist.

Mission Options

3 Day Program

Day 1

Arrive Rock Sound, Eleuthera, where a crew member will meet you to provide transportation to the Cape Eleuthera Resort. Check in and have free time to explore the beautiful cape beaches and shoreline before dinner with dive team members including a mission brief by the expedition leader or submersible pilot followed by a presentation by a content expert.

Day 2

Meet the submersible pilot to board Cyclops 1 for an orientation session, preliminary dive role training and a briefing on the dive schedule and mission objectives. Tour the Cape Eleuthera Institute with an introduction to their research and conservation programs.

Transfer to the dive site aboard a high-speed boat to rendezvous with Cyclops 1 and the dive support vessel. After a safety briefing from the mission director, board the submersible and begin the dive. The duration of the dive is approximately 3 hours, during which you will be coached by the pilot or content expert to assist the crew as a mission specialist. After surfacing, debrief with the crew onboard the dive support ship before returning to the Cape Eleuthera Resort on the high-speed boat for dinner, mission debrief, and presentation by a content expert.

Day 3

Transfer to the Rock Sound airport for your onward arrangements, or extend your stay at the resort on your own.

Included:

Meals as noted, submersible dive, two-night stay at the Cape Eleuthera Resort, mission specialist coaching, expert interpretation, and transfers.

1 Day Program

From the resort marina, transfer to the dive site aboard a high-speed boat to rendezvous with Cyclops 1 and the dive support vessel. After a safety and dive briefing from the mission director, board the submersible and begin the dive. The duration of the dive is approximately 3 hours, during which you may be coached by the pilot or content expert to assist the crew as a mission specialist. After surfacing, debrief with the crew onboard the dive support ship before returning to shore and a tour of the Cape Eleuthera Institute.

Submersible dive, lunch, mission specialist coaching and expert interpretation during your dive.
